The same table, a different day

You don't have to be getting married to get the long table. A big birthday, a wake or a day out for the whole company gets the same boards of Norfolk food down the middle, and the same two people running it. If it is a wedding, go here.

Which month is it?

Autumn is on the board now. Pick your month and we'll mark your season.

Big birthdays and private parties

A sixtieth in your own garden, a fortieth in a hired barn, an anniversary under a marquee in a field. We bring the kitchen to you anywhere in north Norfolk, and the day runs the way a wedding does, without the speeches unless you want them.

Canapés go round while people arrive. Then the boards go down the middle of the long table, hot and all at once, and everyone helps themselves. Pudding lands the same way. If you want a bar, we run it, with Norfolk beer and cider kept cold.

Wakes and funerals

When someone has died, feeding the people who come afterwards should be one thing you don't have to think about. Tell us the day, the room and roughly how many. We will do the rest.

The food is plain and generous. Good bread and a ham, a tart, something green, tea and coffee kept coming. We set it out on a long table so people can eat when they are ready, or we serve it quietly if the room would rather sit. Nothing is announced. The season still decides what is on the table, because that is what tastes right, but no one will be asked to pick a month.

Wakes often come at short notice. Ring us and we will tell you straight away whether we can do the date. If it helps, one of us will come and look at the room beforehand, so you are not describing it over the phone. Allergies and anything people cannot eat are written down before the day.

Ring 01632 960 845 or write to hello@example.com. We answer the phone Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00. An email sent outside those hours is read first thing.

You will have one conversation with us, and then you won't have to brief anyone again. On the day we are there before you are, and we leave the room as we found it.

Company lunches and summer parties

A long table does one thing a buffet cannot: it sits the whole team down together. Platters go down the middle, people pass and talk, and nobody stands in a queue holding a plate.

We cook for lunches at your office, away days in a barn or a field, and summer parties under a marquee, anywhere in north Norfolk, daytime or evening. The food is whatever is at its best that month: Cromer crab and asparagus for a June lunch, saltmarsh lamb for a day in October.

  • Lunch at workBoards on your own tables or ours, cleared and gone by mid-afternoon.
  • Away dayA long table in a barn or a field, with the bar if you want it.
  • Summer partyCanapés from £14 a head on arrival, the season's feast, pudding and the bar under canvas.

Dietary needs are taken down in advance, by name, so your organiser is not fielding questions on the day. Pick your month at the top of the page for the season's menu and its price a head.

Bar service

  • We run the bar ourselves: a trestle at the edge of the marquee or the garden, stocked with Norfolk beer and cider and kept cold in tubs of ice.
  • It opens with the first guest and closes with the last, with soft drinks for whoever is driving and a proper glass for everyone.
  • Add it to any party or company day; just say so when you check your date. What we pour, by season.

  • Dad spent his seventieth walking up and down the table telling people to try the crab. He didn't sit down until the crumble came out, and then he had two helpings.

  • They were set up before we got back from the service and the room was ready. Nobody asked us for anything all afternoon. That was the kindest thing anyone did that week.

  • Four offices sat down at one table for the first time. The lamb was what they were still talking about on Monday, and I didn't have to answer a single question about the food.
